Architecture and Urbanism, Civil Engineering, Art and Design, and Media: The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has a clear focus. In Science and Arts we concept, construct and design contemporary and future living environments – analytical, creative and innovative. With regard to the Bauhaus founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar, the »Bauhaus« in the university’s name stands for experimentation, creativity, openness and internationality.
At the same time, research at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is multifunctional, international and interdisciplinary: next to »Digital Engineering« and »Cultural Scientific Media Research«, the main focus lies on research areas like »Urbanism, Architecture and Environment«, »Material and Construction« and »Arts.Design.Science«.
About 40 study courses and programmes range from Architecture, Civil Engineering and Engineering to Liberal Arts, Design, Visual Communication, Media Design, Media Studies and Media Informatics. Practical relevance is very important in all scientific fields. Project orientated studies paired with excellent research and education guarantee fundamental academic knowledge and practical experience in multiple occupations.
