Technische Universität Dresden is one of eleven German Universities of Excellence, thus one of the top universities in Germany and Europe: strong in research, first class in the variety and quality of the courses and closely linked with culture, economy and society. As a modern University with 18 faculties, it offers a broad scientific spectrum as only very few universities in Germany do. As the largest university in Saxony it emerged from the Technische Bildungsanstalt Dresden, founded in 1828. Therefore it can be seen as one of the oldest academic educational establishments with a focus on technology in Germany.
The large campus of the TU Dresden consists of 32,000 students, 4,559 self-financed employees – including 510 professors – as well as more than 3,000 externally funded employees.
An outstanding feature of the TU Dresden is its dynamic evolution – a process that has lasted for years and continues well into the future. As "Synergetic University" the TU Dresden closely cooperates with many other research institutions, culture, economy and the society in general. Founding the DRESDEN-concept (Dresden Research and Education Synergies for the Development of Excellence and Novelty) in 2009, the TU Dresden has created a network with strong partners from science and culture, which is unique in Germany.
The successful development of the TU Dresden can also be seen in the increase of external funding. Whilst in the annual balance sheet of 2003 the amount just exceeded the € 100 million mark, in 2017, the TU Dresden recruited about € 270 million from external financiers.
The Cooperation for Stellenticket TU Dresden is coordinated by the Career Service, which guarantees an optimal integration of the various options that arise for employers at the TU Dresden.
