Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät Dres­den - Cen­ter for Mole­cu­lar and Cel­lu­lar Bio­en­gi­nee­ring (CMCB), Cen­ter for Rege­ne­ra­tive The­ra­pies Dres­den (CRTD)

The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch Asso­ciate in Point-of-Care dia­gnostics

The pro­ject posi­tion is star­ting as soon as pos­si­ble. The full-time posi­tion is initi­ally limi­ted until 30.06.2022. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz – WissZeitVG).
The Cen­ter for Rege­ne­ra­tive The­ra­pies Dres­den (CRTD; www.crt-dresden.de) is a rese­arch cen­ter with cur­r­ently 22 rese­arch groups and 250 employees. The CRTD's rese­arch focu­ses on rege­ne­ra­tive and stem cell rese­arch, with rese­arch approa­ches ran­ging from basic rese­arch to app­li­ca­tion in a cli­ni­cal-trans­la­tio­nal con­text, thus lay­ing the foun­da­tion for novel dia­gno­ses and the­ra­peu­tic opti­ons. The place of work is the Insti­tute of Bio­func­tio­nal Poly­mer Mate­ri­als, which is part of the Leib­niz Insti­tute of Poly­mer Rese­arch Dres­den (IPF).

Work­ing field:

You will work inde­pendently in close col­la­bo­ra­tion with the medi­cal depart­ment for Micro­bio­logy at the Uni­ver­sity Hos­pi­tal Carl Gus­tav Carus and the Leib­niz Insti­tute of Poly­mer Rese­arch Dres­den (IPF) to deve­lop an inte­gra­tive Point-of-care dia­gnostics device for viral and bac­te­rial patho­gens. You will deve­lop and eva­luate hard- and soft­ware (inclu­ding addi­tive manu­fac­tu­ring, mani­fold deve­lop­ment, and sys­tem inte­gra­tion) for the detec­tion sys­tem based on nucleic acid ampli­fi­ca­tion. We expect you to advance the pro­ject by pre­sen­ting the fin­dings at natio­nal and inter­na­tio­nal con­fe­rence and in publi­ca­ti­ons. You are also respon­si­ble for inst­ruc­ting and gui­ding tech­ni­cal staff.

Require­ments:

Uni­ver­sity degree in a sci­en­ti­fic-tech­ni­cal sub­ject (mas­ter or diploma in engi­nee­ring or phy­sics or PhD in engi­nee­ring or phy­sics, pre­fer­a­bly in elec­tro­nics, mate­ri­als sci­en­ces, mecha­ni­cal engi­nee­ring) or a simi­larly sui­ta­ble degree pro­gramme with 1-3 years of expe­ri­ence in elec­tro­nics and/or addi­tive manu­fac­tu­ring. In addi­tion, strong com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills and inter­cul­tu­ral com­pe­tence as well as relia­bi­lity, initia­tive, capa­city for team­work and a high level of moti­va­tion are requi­red. Addi­tio­nal know­ledge in soft­ware and app-deve­lop­ment is desi­ra­ble.
