Im Her­zen der Lau­sitz ver­bin­det die BTU her­aus­ra­gende inter­na­tio­nale For­schung mit zukunfts­ori­en­tier­ter Lehre. Sie leis­tet mit Wis­sens-, Tech­no­lo­gie­trans­fer und Wei­ter­bil­dung einen wich­ti­gen Bei­trag für Gesell­schaft, Kul­tur und Wirt­schaft. Als Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät bie­tet die BTU ein bun­des­weit ein­zig­ar­ti­ges Lehr­kon­zept: Bei uns kön­nen Stu­di­en­gänge uni­ver­si­tär, fach­hoch­schu­lisch und dual stu­diert wer­den.

Junior Pro­fess­or­ship Shape-Giv­ing Join­ing (W1)

(with Ten­ure-Track-Option to W3-Pro­fess­or­ship)

Work­ing field:

The junior pro­fess­or­ship is an anti­cip­at­ory pro­fess­or­ship to suc­ceed to the chair of Join­ing and Weld­ing Tech­no­logy (Prof. Ves­selin Michailov). It is required that the applic­ant has an engin­eer­ing focus in the field of join­ing and weld­ing, in par­tic­u­lar depos­ition weld­ing, and she/he has proof of sci­entific research achieve­ments.

The applic­ant should expand and fur­ther develop the exist­ing research in the field of "Shape-giv­ing Join­ing" and offer courses for stu­dents in this area. She/He should ini­tially take over pro­ject lead­ing in the field of ongo­ing research pro­jects and organ­ize their suc­cess­ful imple­ment­a­tion. Act­ive par­ti­cip­a­tion in the frame­work of the ini­ti­at­ives for struc­tural and energy change in the region as well as close cooper­a­tion with the involved part­ners from industry and sci­entific part­ners is expec­ted. The will­ing­ness for inter­dis­cip­lin­ary national and inter­na­tional cooper­a­tion as well as cooper­a­tion with the insti­tutes and fac­ulties of the BTU, is required. Par­ti­cip­a­tion in innov­at­ive and future-ori­ented fur­ther devel­op­ment of Ger­man-lan­guage and inter­na­tional courses is expec­ted.

The holder of the pos­i­tion should ideally develop and/or expand the fol­low­ing skills within the frame­work of the junior pro­fess­or­ship:

  • Expert­ise in join­ing and weld­ing tech­no­logy, includ­ing "Shape-giv­ing Join­ing". In par­tic­u­lar, a close link between mater­ial and tech­no­logy expert­ise that serves as the basis for the tar­geted prop­er­ties set­ting based on the metal­lur­gical and micro­struc­tural mech­an­isms.
  • Expert­ise in filler mater­i­als such as powder and cored wires
  • Expert­ise in test­ing and design of wel­ded joints and struc­tures
  • Expert­ise in sim­u­la­tion and optim­iz­a­tion of wel­ded joints and weld­ing pro­cesses with regard to dif­fer­ent require­ments, among oth­ers light­weight con­struc­tion.

Courses must also be con­duc­ted in Eng­lish.

Addi­tional require­ments derive from § 42 Branden­bur­gisches Hoch­schul­ge­setz (BbgHG) i. V. m. § 3 BbgHG.

Require­ments:

Can­did­ates are required to provide in the applic­a­tion the pre­vi­ous achieve­ments in fun­da­mental research, e.g. pro­pos­als for pub­licly fun­ded pro­jects (DFG, BMBF, EU ...) and pub­lic­a­tions in peer-reviewed journ­als. In addi­tion, exper­i­ence in applic­a­tion-ori­ented research with indus­trial com­pan­ies has to be proven e.g. through pro­jects (AIF, ZIM ...), joint pub­lic­a­tions or pat­ents.

Exper­i­ence in acquis­i­tion of third-party funds as well as in exe­cu­tion of third-party fun­ded pro­jects are expec­ted.

The require­ments and con­di­tions for recruit­ment can be found in §§ 45 and 46 BbgHG. The time period of a full-time sci­entific activ­ity between the last exam­in­a­tion of the doc­tor­ate and applic­a­tion for the junior pro­fess­or­ship may gen­er­ally not exceed six years.

Can­did­ates who meet the recruit­ment cri­teria for a uni­versity pro­fess­or­ship in accord­ance with § 41 Abs. 1 Nr. 4a BbgHG can­not be con­sidered in this selec­tion pro­ced­ure.

The BTU is striv­ing to increase the pro­por­tion of women in research and teach­ing and, there­fore, appro­pri­ate applic­a­tions are reques­ted.
As a fam­ily-ori­ented uni­versity, the BTU offers sup­port­ing options for dual-career couples (Dual Career Ser­vice).
Can­did­ates with a severe dis­ab­il­ity are pref­er­en­tially con­sidered in case of equal qual­i­fic­a­tion.
