Rolls Royce - Elec­trical

Rolls-Royce Elec­trical (RRE) is respons­ible for devel­op­ing world class elec­trical tech­no­lo­gies and products, as well as the asso­ci­ated integ­rated power gen­er­a­tion and propul­sion turn­key sys­tems. RRE is rap­idly extend­ing the com­pany's cap­ab­il­ity in the elec­trical domain and will play an increas­ingly import­ant role in all our busi­nesses as we move for­ward toward our Net Zero goal.

Power Elec­tronic Hard­ware Designer (f/m/d)

Work­ing field:

  • Drive new power elec­tronic unit designs from con­cep­tion, ana­lysis, detailed design and man­u­fac­tur­ing through to oper­a­tional test and ini­tial deploy­ment.
  • Define the hard­ware archi­tec­ture of highly integ­rated mixed-sig­nal embed­ded con­trol units for power elec­tronic equip­ment.
  • Par­ti­cip­ate through all product devel­op­ment stages from early pro­to­typ­ing to new product intro­duc­tion, while apply­ing sys­tem engin­eer­ing tools and tech­niques.
  • Sup­port the safety pro­cesses per­form­ing FMEA ana­lysis.
  • Con­trib­ute to V&V pro­cess as well as to the Change pro­cess.
  • You work accord­ing to an air­craft qual­ity man­age­ment sys­tem and sus­tain­able doc­u­ment­a­tion of the devel­op­ment.
  • Co-ordin­ate stra­tegic col­lab­or­a­tion with key research part­ners in R&D ini­ti­at­ives
  • Lead internal and external research pro­gramme to ensure busi­ness oppor­tun­it­ies are pur­sued and the Group's R&D require­ments are sat­is­fied.
  • Main­tain good cus­tomer and stake­holder engage­ment throughout the pro­ject cycle.
  • Sup­port the achieve­ment of depart­ment object­ives aligned with global object­ives.


  • BS/MS/PhD degree in Elec­trical or related engin­eer­ing dis­cip­line. Can­did­ates with sig­ni­fic­ant exper­i­ence in elec­trical power sys­tem design and imple­ment­a­tion are pre­ferred.
  • Exper­i­ence in sys­tem engin­eer­ing back­ground with exper­i­ence of the use of require­ment man­age­ment tools (e.g. DOORS, Polarion), SYSML model based sys­tem engin­eer­ing tools (e.g Integ­rity mod­el­ler, Cameo sys­tems mod­el­ler).
  • Exper­i­ence in high-dens­ity PCB design of com­plex mixed-sig­nal cir­cuitry integ­rat­ing micro­con­trol­ler, DSP, FPGA and SoC prefer­ably using Altium tools.
  • Exper­i­ence in the imple­ment­a­tion of high-speed digital inter­faces such as PCI express, Eth­er­net, CAN, ARINC, I2C/SPI and RF cir­cuitry ensur­ing optimum sig­nal integ­rity.
  • Exper­i­ence in sim­u­lat­ing and veri­fy­ing the thermal beha­viour, mech­an­ical integ­ra­tion and EMI/EMC aspects of PCBs.
  • Exper­i­ence of the use of aerospace stand­ards such as DO-178, DO-254 and ARP4754A.
  • Exper­i­ence in work­ing in multi-domain team (Elec­trical, Mech­an­ical, Con­trol and Thermal) with a sound under­stand­ing of inter­ac­tions with other engin­eer­ing dis­cip­lines.
  • Strong back­ground in math­em­at­ical mod­el­ling of elec­trical power com­pon­ents and sys­tems for both static and tran­si­ent con­di­tions (data driven and phys­ics-based model).
  • Effect­ive oral and writ­ten com­mu­nic­a­tion skills
  • An abil­ity to achieve tar­gets while work­ing on mul­tiple pro­jects sim­ul­tan­eously
